From 1976 to 1979 the Khmer Rouge ruled Cambodia with their own form of ultra-Marxism, resulting in the deaths of millions and destruction of the country that can still be felt today. Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum (S-21), was once a high school and was converted into a detention and torture center during the Khmer Rouge regime. Tuol Sleng remains to remind and educate all people about this dark time in Cambodian history.
The Angkor Archaeological Park is visually, architecturally and artistically breathtaking and one of the most important archaeological sites in South-East Asia if not the world. Stretching over some 400 km2, including forested area, the park contains the magnificent remains of the different capitals of the Khmer Empire, from the 9th to the 15th century. You could spend weeks exploring the ruins, but on this day tour, you will have a chance to see all the highlights.
The Great Tonle Sap Lake (Boeung Tonle Sap) is one the main natural wonders of Cambodia, important ecological hotspot for freshwater fish in Asia during the wet season and UNESCO designated biosphere.
