Day 1

[Dinner included]

Xinchao! Welcome to Vietnam. On arrival you will get transferred from the airport to your hotel for check in. Spend some time to freshen up after the journey.

Then we recommend you head down to the hustle and bustle of Hanoi 36 Streets area (aka ‘the Old Quarter). Hanoi is famous for its beautiful lakes, shaded boulevards, verdant public parks and it’s thriving Old Quarter. The latter is an awesome combination of old and new buildings with blocks of buildings retaining the air of a 1930s provincial French town mixed in with a healthy dose of chaos.

We have your first Vietnamese meal covered as a welcome gift, so you just arrange your drinks! The dinner consists of a Vietnamese popular fried spring rolls as a starter and then a main course of local Vietnamese food served with rice. (We have alternative option if you’re a vegetarian or vegan so please ask the waiter). Afterwards explore the night life in Ta Hien beer street in the heart of the Old Quarter.

Accommodation: Double/Twin shared bed at Camellia 4 Hotel (or similar)

Day 2

HANOI Like a Local

Hanoi is a great city to explore by foot, although the traffic is mental you can see so much more from a ground level. Today kick off with a full-day walking tour of the city and explore Hanoi like a local! By the end of the day you will have a feel for this awesome city.  We will start with the Ngoc Son temple, the gem of the Hoan Kiem Lake, have a overview about Vietnamese culture and religion from our local guide. Hop in a traditional red cyclo and get taken through the organized and sometimes not so organized chaos of Hanoi. Continue the adventure into Hoa Lo Prison and gain a deeper understanding about the Indochinese wars and how they shaped the culture, the people and the country as a whole.

Later we will stroll back to the Old Quarter, stop along the train tracks where locals still live and sample a Hanoi institution ‘Bia Hoi’ – this is an amazing fresh beer brewed and served by the friendliest local people. One glass sets you back around 5,000 VND (0.25USD). You’re also encouraged to try some of the best street food Asia has to offer. We suggest diving right in and eating local Vietnamese (such as pho/ banh mi or bun cha. Also worth mentioning is the egg coffee, another Hanoi classic.

In the evening, sit down to a traditional water puppet performance (or the ‘Four Palaces’ cultural show). This northern tradition, dating back nearly a thousand years, is performed alongside traditional Vietnamese music that employs drums, wooden bells, horns and bamboo flutes.

It is literally a local duck farm, the family that owns the farm is very friendly and welcoming. When you arrive they will give you peanuts and a beer.  Then you go into the duck pen, feed the mass of ducks that live on the farm. This sounds crazy, but trust us it’s the most wholesome, authentic and random experience you can expect to have.

They also have a Water buffalo they rescued from Hard Labour called Donald Trump...try local food on the farm with the local family. You'll come away with sore cheeks from laughing too much today.

After the local meal, go back to the hotel, get your swimsuit for another unforgettable adventure – the Dark cave!
